SV Wrestling Update 2/4

What a great week of wrestling for our RAIDER WRESTLERS!  Things are continuing to get more exciting every week!!!

HS Varsity Results...WE'RE GOING TO STATES AS A TEAM!

Wednesday SV hosted the first two rounds of the WPIAL Dual Team Playoffs!  The gym was rockin'!  Thank you to everyone who came out to support the Raiders as they won the first match against Franklin Regional 37-23.  In the Quarterfinals they took on Hempfield.  When we left the gym we thought we lost 31-31 on criteria (pins/forfeits), but on Thursday we found out the score was changed to a SV victory 37-25 due to a Hempfield error.  On Saturday in the semi-finals SV lost a tough match to Canon-Mac, who finished 2nd, 47-17.  The Raiders wrestlers rebounded nicely in the 3rd place match beating Waynesburg 39-31.  The SV Varsity Team has QUALIFIED to the PIAA STATE WRESTLING DUAL TOURNAMENT.  Their pig-tail match is on Monday against Carrick at 7pm at Carrick HS.  If they win that, they will go to Hershey Thursday-Saturday for the double-elimination team tournament.  You can follow the team in their journey to the top at http://www.wjpa.com/wrestling.htm.  WE BELIEVE!!!

Youth Results

Thank you to everyone who helped with mats, tables, and concessions on Saturday for the League Match and Sunday for the Novice Duals!  This could not have been possible without everyone's help!

The SV Youth Open Dual Team participated in the WAWA League Dual Championships today.  We defeated Montour in Round 1 61-12, West Allegheny in Round 2 58-24, and Central Valley in Round 3 43-37 to earn a spot in the Championship Match.  Unfortunately, we fell to Quaker Valley 35-51 for the 3rd or 4th straight year.  We still walked away with a 2nd Place Team finish which makes us extremely proud of our kids and the way they wrestled!

The SV Youth Novice Team participated in a Dual Tournament today at SV.  They went 1-2 in their matches and earned a 3rd place finish!  Great job, Raiders!

Upcoming Events

The HS Varsity Team will be competing in the PIAA State Dual Championships beginning Monday and continuing Thursday through Saturday in Hershey.  The JH Team will be wrestling Canon Mac on Wednesday 4pm at SV and then at home against Hempfield on Friday 5pm.  The Youth will have a league match at East Liverpool on Saturday.  There are also several out of area Open and Novice Tournaments this weekend that can be found at www.pywrestling.com.

High School Powerade Results

Congratulations to the SV HS team who put on a great performance in the Varsity and JV Powerade Tournaments at Canon-Mac this past week.  The Powerade Tournament is known to be the 2nd toughest HS Varsity Tournament in the country with 52 teams this year from 7 different states from as far away as Florida and California.  In the Varsity Powerade Tournament, SV had wrestlers in only 13 of 14 weight classes and still finished in 11th, only 3 points out of the Top 10.  That is a huge accomplishment for our program!  Every Raider wrestler who competed contributed to the team score.  SV had 2 wrestlers finish in the Top 8 and 2 more (Dylan Chappell and Ty Gross) fall just one win shy of placing.  Freshman Alejandro Herrera-Rondon finished in 6th place at 106lbs and Senior Louis Newell finished in 2nd place at 120lbs.  Both of those are huge accomplishments at such a prestigious tournament!  Great job, gents!

Setting up an SV Wrestling Site Account
by posted 09/21/2014

Setting Up an SV Wrestling Account

You can set up your own account upon registering your wrestler for the season.  Simply click on the orange "Register Now" button to begin the registration process.  When you are finished with registration, you will simply visit the site, click "Sign In" on the top right corner, fill in the email address you used during registration, and hit "Forgot Password".  The system will walk you through setting up a password of your choice.

If you are not registering a wrestler, are new to this SV Wrestling site, and feel you need an account, please send an email to Melissa Smith at smith_melissa@bah.com from the email you want your account set to. In the Subject line, simply say "Account Setup". You should receive an email within 1-3 days announcing your account has been set up and providing instructions for creating your password.

You will need an account to volunteer for events in the system, check the status of payments made, and other administrative items.
